Christmas Star Ornament Project Instructions

Christmas Star Ornament ProjectHere is a Christmas ornament project that is fun and easy to make. Keep the ornament for yourself or give it away. It's quick, so you can make up a bunch for your own tree or you can give them away by putting them in other people's Christmas stockings. Either way, they are sure to be the favourite ornament on the Christmas tree!

Supplies Needed:

First, gather all the supplies you will need and download the Christmas Star Pattern Template. After you have printed the template, cut out the two stars from the printout. Then use a fabric pencil to trace the pattern onto your fabric. Next, cut out the fabric.

Once the fabric has been cut, you will need to sew together 4 of the 5 points. You have two options when sewing. You can place the fabric with the right sides together (as I have done for this project) so that you won't see any of your sewing lines. Or you can place the fabric with the wrong sides together (and the right side facing out), so that in the finished product you will see your sewing lines.

After you have sewn the two pieces of fabric together, you are ready to fill the ornament with batting. If you placed the fabric with the right sides together, then you will need to turn it inside out before filling it. You can use either a little bit or a lot of stuffing; use however much you like until you are happy with the way the ornament looks and feels.

The very last step is to sew the final edges together. Keep in mind that at the tip of the point, you will be adding a small loop of ribbon, from which the ornament will hang on the tree. No matter the thickness of the ribbon, make sure that you have at least two stitches going through it, so that it won't come off the ornament in the future.

You have now finished your Christmas Star ornament! If you want to make more, you have a few different options. Your options to choose from are:

No matter what options you choose, you are sure to really enjoy your new Christmas ornaments! Plus, the best part about making these ornaments from fabric is that they won't break if your Christmas tree falls over. Happy Holidays!
