Photo Album Cover Project Instructions

Photo Album CoverTurn an ordinary photo album into extraordinary with a custom made fabric slip cover!

Supplies needed:

Note: For this project, the photo album holds 4 x 6 pictures. It measures 5 x 6 1/2 inches for both the front and back covers. The side measures 2 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches.

Hem the edgesCut the material 19 inches wide and 8 inches tall. Next, sew a 1/2 inch hem on all sides of the material, with the wrong side together.

The next step is to create the side flaps, where the album will tuck into. Place the material right side up and fold over both sides 2 3/4 inches, with the right side together. Before sewing the material together, you may want to test your album cover to ensure a snug fit. To do this, pin the edges together where they will be sewn. Then try slipping the cover on the photo album. Once you are happy with the fit, remove the photo album and sew the edges together. Tip: To make it easier to slip the cover on the photo album, gently bend the album cover backwards, which will give you extra slack in the fabric and make your job easier.

Create flaps for the coverAfter sewing the flaps in position, turn the flaps inside out. At this point, you can add any embellishments to the cover to dress it up or to label what pictures the album contains, such as a vacation or baby pictures. Once the embellishments are added, slip the cover over the photo album. Fill the album with pictures and enjoy!
