Child's Felt Doll Project Instructions

Felt Doll ProjectHere is a perfect project for children to do on a rainy day or during the holidays. They'll appreciate and cherish a doll that they made with their own hands. Plus, they can decide what face and clothes the doll should have.

Supplies Needed:

First, start by printing the Attached Pattern and cut out the pattern for the doll. Trace the pattern onto a piece of felt. Then flip the pattern over and trace it onto another piece of felt. Use the scissors to cut the felt, carefully following the lines you just traced on the felt. Once you have finished cutting, if you want, you can sew buttons or other embellishments onto one side of the felt.

Next, match the two cut pieces of felt together and hand sew the edges together. Start near the top of the head and go around the body, leaving the top of the head open. Place the stuffing inside the doll, either a little or a lot, until it is filled to your satisfaction. Now you can sew shut the edges of the doll's head. Tip: Use a pencil or a knitting needle to help push the stuffing into the legs and arms of the doll.

Finally, it is time to dress up your doll. Use markers to draw a face and clothes on the doll. Or, if you prefer, you can also create hair or clothes for the doll from other pieces of felt. Now every time the child plays with their doll, they will remember how much fun it was to make it!
