How To Frame Cross Stitch Projects
The Best Way to Organize Your Floss
Cross Stitching Using Waste Canvas
Creating your own cross stitch journal is the perfect way to keep track not only of your completed projects, but of the projects you want to start, have started and all of your supplies. It's your journal, so include what's most important to you and customize it to fit your needs.
Start by selecting either a regular binder or a scrapbook album that is 12 x 12 inches in size. For either the binder or the album, make sure that it can be expanded so you can add more pages over time. From the templates below, choose the ones that you want to use and place them in your binder. Start filling them out and presto! You have your very own cross stitch journal.
Here are some free templates that you can use for your journal.
Finished
Cross Stitch Projects - Start a new sheet to record each cross stitch
project once you have completed it. Start off by taking a picture of your
hard work and pasting it on the sheet. Then, take just a few minutes to
record essential details, such as:
Started
Cross Stitch Projects - Keep a running list of all the patterns and kits you
have either started or want to start. Add each new project to the bottom
of the list and as you complete each one, put a checkmark or sticker beside it.
As you are working on a project, use this sheet to help you keep track of your
progress.
Inventory
List - Here is a general list to write down all the supplies you own.
If you prefer, you can write down all of your supplies except for any floss,
patterns, kits and fabrics that you own. For those ones, you can use the
three templates provided below.
Floss
Inventory List - A list specifically made to record all of your floss.
List each one by Brand name, colour number and colour name.
Patterns
and Kits Inventory List - Use this list to record any patterns and kits that
you own. Since the sheet is removable, it is easy to take it with you when
you go shopping so that you won't end up buying any duplicates. For each
pattern and kit, simply record the name, the brand or company that created the
pattern or kit, and a brief description of what the design looks like.
Fabric
and Cloth Inventory List - For each piece of fabric or cloth that you buy,
use this template to record all the specific details. You will want to
keep track of the type of fabric you bought (for example, linen or aida cloth),
the colour of the fabric, the count number and the size of the fabric.
Just remember to update this list as you use any of the fabric for your
projects.
Supplies
Needed List - By keeping a list of the supplies you need for patterns you
have already bought, you will be able to take advantage of any sales as they
come up. Simply bring the list with you each time there is a sale - no
more waiting until you start a project and paying full price for the supplies
you need to complete it. To fill out this list, simply record the name of
the pattern, what supplies you need and how much.
My
Notes - Record memories, modifications you made to patterns, doodles and any
threads or patterns that you liked or disliked ... basically this is the place
for anything that you want to make a note of.
