Seashell Wishes Card Idea

Sometimes important events can sneak up on you and you may not have the time to make a lovely card for the occasion.  One solution is to make up a bunch of cards ahead of time and then just choose one when you need it.  Well, this card is one of those that you can make well in advance.  Best of all, it can be used for many different occasions - such as a birthday, an invitation, a "Thinking of You" card or a "Happy wishes for the occasion" card.  Here's how this card was made.

Step One:  Rub oil pastels over the card.  For this card, I used orange, yellow, red and purple.  Choose any colours you wish that will compliment the theme of the card.

Step Two:  Blend the colours together by rubbing a foam brush over the card.  This will give it a softer look, perfect for any background.

Step Three:  Choose a stencil of your choice.  Then use a thin black marker to trace the edges of the stencil onto the card.  Alternative #1:  You can leave the card like this or you spice it up a bit.  In this alternative, you can cut out the stencil by following the outline of the black marker.  Then use glue or a spray adhesive and paste them onto a blank card with a solid colour background.  This alternative really makes the stencil area pop with life.

Step Four:  Finally, apply a fixative to seal and protect the colours, so that they won't rub off with normal handling of the card.
