Happy New Year Card Idea

Ring in the New Year with this stylish card.

This card uses a combination of oil pastels, ribbon and stickers to create a one-of-a-kind look.

Here's how:

Step One: Rub oil pastels all over the card.  Choose a variety of colours that compliment each other.  For this card, I choose black, medium blue, dark blue and purple.

Step Two: Blend the colours together by rubbing a foam brush over the card.  This will also soften the colours to give a nice multi-colour background to your card.

Step Three:  Apply a fixative to seal and protect the colours.  The fixative will prevent the colours from rubbing off from normal handling of the card.

Step Four:  Place holiday themed stickers on the card.  Choose one or two phrases to convey your meaning and then use the other stickers to reinforce the theme of the card.  If you like, you could also use rhinestones or other embellishments that appeal to you.  You don't need many, so feel free to splurge on embellishments that you normally wouldn't use.

Step Five:  Punch two holes in the fold of the card.  Pull a ribbon through the holes and tie the ribbon together on the outside of the card.  The ribbon dresses up the card, giving it a very elegant look and feel.

Now you are ready to celebrate the new year in style!
