Scrapbooking Storage Tips

Does this happen to you? The more scrapbooking you do, the more supplies you buy. The next thing you know, there are scrapbooking supplies all over your house, in every nook and corner.

Do you want to do something about it? Don't worry and don't get overwhelmed. It's easy to create a system that works for you in whatever amount of space you have. Start by buying the proper storage system and then take a few minutes here and there to put all your supplies away safely and neatly. Here are some tips to get you started.

Protect Your Supplies From Damage

Start by selecting the right storage solutions that fit your space and will keep your supplies protected from damage. If you plan to store supplies in the basement, choose storage solutions that are waterproof and that will keep the supplies off of the floor. That way, if your basement ever does flood, the water won't be able to ruin all your precious supplies. If you plan to store things in a room that receives lots of sunlight during the day, you will want to protect them from fading. The easiest way to protect them from being damaged by the sun is to store them in a dark closet or in opaque containers that won't let the sun in.

Keep Everything Together

Keep all your supplies together in one place where you can see everything in a glance. By keeping them all together, you won't end up with duplicates or spend all your time gathering your supplies before you start to scrapbook. To help you keep track of your supplies, keep similar items together. As well, put labels or pictures on the outside of containers and baskets so that you can quickly see what is in each one.

Use Containers Or Baskets

Baskets work especially well for holding smaller items. They also allow you to reach in and touch each item without having to take off any lids. Place smaller containers and baskets on shelves, where you can easily reach them. If you must stack containers on top of each other, the bottom container should hold supplies that you don't use often. This way, you won't always be moving the containers around, just to get to the one on the bottom.

On The Go Solutions

If you are frequently traveling and bringing your supplies with you, look at solutions that will hold all the supplies you need, keep them organized and that are easy to carry around. One example of a solution that does all of this is a tote bag. If you keep all the supplies for your current project in your tote bag at all times, then all you need to do is grab the tote bag and go!
