Interesting Photography Tricks For Scrapbooks

If you want to make the pictures in your scrapbook look more interesting, there are a few different ways that you can do this. Some tricks are low tech and focus on how the picture is cropped, while other tricks are high tech and rely on computer software. Here are five tricks that are quick and easy to follow.

  1. Make a collage. This way you can fit several pictures of various sizes onto one page. If you like, you can include newspaper clippings or add some journaling to the page to add even more interest. It is best to arrange the pictures and text before you permanently fix them into place, so that you can ensure that you are happy with the layout.
  2. Turn your photograph into a mosaic. Create your own mosaic by cutting a picture into very tiny squares and then gluing them onto a sheet of white paper. To ensure that the squares are all the same size, use a ruler and draw lines on the back of the picture. Cut out and glue one square at a time so that the squares will stay in the proper order. Once all the squares are glued in place, cut the white paper to the desired size and attach it in your scrapbook.
  3. Create the look of a straw mat from your picture. For this, you will need two copies of the picture. Cut one picture into vertical strips and the other into horizontal strips, ensuring that the strips are the same size. The strips should be half an inch wide in order to work. Once all the strips are cut out, simply weave them together as if you were making a straw mat. When you are done, you will have added texture and dimension to your scrapbook.
  4. Add clipart. The internet has a wide variety to choose from, so take your time until you find just the right one. The clipart should help to tie together or emphasize the theme of the page in your scrapbook. Dress up the clipart by framing it with fabric, ribbons or tags. Alternatively, you can place it on thick foam to add dimension to the page.
  5. Manipulate the pictures using computer software. There are many different software programs out there that will allow you to manipulate the image of a picture. You can change the colour, make it look like a drawing or a painting or even correct scratches on the picture. Play with the different effects that come in the software program to see what each one does. You can either build a scrapbook page filled with different pictures using the same effect or many copies of one picture with each one using a different effect. Both ways are very interesting!

I hope you found these tips to be helpful and interesting. Feel free to experiment with your own ideas or to combine any of the ideas mentioned above.
