Roman Stitch Knitting Pattern

Roman Stitch Knitting Pattern

Brief Description:

Finished pieces using the roman stitch have raised stitches spaced evenly throughout the rows. This gives the knitting a lovely textured look.

Uses:

You can use the roman stitch to create dishcloths, scarves and much, much more. It's perfect for adding an extra piece of dimension to pieces that would otherwise be quite plain and unremarkable.

Pattern Instructions:

Here is the pattern to use when you want to knit the waving rib stitch. Knit each row with an even number of stitches.

  1. Cast on 24 stitches.
  2. Row 1: Knit.
  3. Row 2: Purl.
  4. Row 3: [Knit 1, Purl 1] Repeat stitches in brackets to end of row.
  5. Row 4: [Purl 1, Knit 1]. Repeat stitches in brackets to end of row.
  6. Repeat Rows 1-4 as many times as desired.
  7.  Bind off.

I hope you have found the Roman Stitch knitting pattern within the knitting stitch gallery useful.  Please visit our Knitting Yarns webpage to see a large selection of the different types of wool that you can use in knitting.
